I Dream of Jeanie

“I Dream of Jeanie” was written in 1848 by the “father of American music,” Stephen Foster.  This arrangement is from a collection of Foster songs by Michael Linton in 1986. It features the versatile mezzo-soprano and actress Kathleen Shimeta and Janet Gustafson Linton on piano.

Be sure to also check out Kathleen’s critically acclaimed recording Ah! Love, I Shall Find Thee: Songs of Gena Branscombe” with Martin Hennessy on piano.

Here’s the Irish tenor John McCormack singing the traditional version in 1934
