Room Full of Teeth is an ensemble I heard about last year, and other than smiling and thinking that’s a clever name, I didn’t do much investigating. All that changed after I watched NPR’s Tiny Desk concert with Room Full of Teeth. The description of the concert included, “…mix a bit of yodeling with Tuvan throat singing, add in a pinch of Sardinian cantu a tenore, fold in compositions from cutting-edge composers and you have the vocal group Roomful of Teeth.” The Pulitzer Prize winning composer, Caroline Shaw is a member of this contemporary vocal ensemble.
