On March 30, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Philharmonic continued to play Ravel’s Daphnis and Chloé. Six minutes or so into the performance, the lights of the Disney Hall began to shake, people started to tun out of the building, but the orchestra played on. Below is an audio recording from that night.
At the same time The Cal State Long Beach Symphony Orchestra was also performing. But, their reaction to the earthquake was a little different.
