A Thing or Two About a Tune or Two: Movie Music Magic







The 87th Academy Award Nominations were announced yesterday morning and the media is now all a twitter with the news. Let the unnecessary opulence of award season begin!

Here are a few categories that often do not get much attention (unless you are Idina Menzel and John Travolta murders your name).

Those nominated in the Original Score category are the following:

Alexandre Desplat for “The Grand Budapest Hotel”

Alexandre Desplat for “The Imitation Game”

Hans Zimmer for “Interstellar”

Gary Yershon for “Mr. Turner”

Jóhann Jóhannsson for “The Theory of Everything”

And here are the nominees in the “Original Song” category:

“Glory” from SELMA
